How do I install bablit?

Please visit the App Market from your Android handset and search for "Bablit".

OK, I installed Bablit. What now?

You need to register a user name for Bablit. Registration is FREE and gives you a unique user name, password, and ownership of your pins. Simply register here. It only takes a minute!

After you choose a user name and password, you can login to Bablit. Bablit will remember your user name and password if you tell it to do that.

I registered but I cannot login. What should I do?

Make sure your user name and password are entered correctly. If you are still not able to login, please contact our technical support at support@bablit.com

I registered in the past but cannot login any more!

This is rare, but it is possible that your account has been deactivated. We periodically deactivate users who have not been active for a long time to reduce the size of the database. If this has happened, please contact our technical support at support@bablit.com and we will re-activate your account.

How do I see what people are saying about my location?

After you login, you are shown a display of all pins near your current location. You can view the pins as a list, sorted by most recent first. Or you can view the pins on a map. You can narrow the list by viewing the pins filtered (ha, ha!) by a tag, such as "Coffee". Also, you can press on a pin to see a more details of the pin.

How do I add pins of my own?

To post a pin, select "Add" from the menu.

Can I add pictures to my pins?

Absolutely. Here's a pin with a picture added to it.

So some of these places sound really interesting. How do I go there from where I am?

Long-press on a pin and choose "Google Maps" to get driving directions. Simple, really!

How do I change my settings?

From the menu, select "Settings" to access your settings. You can set a list of tags that you can filter your pins by (Bablit will remember your setting for the next time). You can set a visibility and a refresh distance, too.

What is the Visiblity setting?

Visiblity is the distance you can see pins from your current location. Visibility is actually the radius of an imaginary circle with you at the center. All pins within this circle are visible to you. The unit of measure for visibility is meters and there are several selections in the drop down box you can choose from. For example, if you choose 1000 meters, you will be able to see all of the pins within a circle with a 1000 meter radius from your current location.

What is the Refresh Distance setting?

Refresh Distance is the distance you need to travel before bablit will check for new pins. The unit of measure for Refresh Distance is meters and there are several selections in the drop down box you can choose from. For example, if you choose 100 meters, bablit will check for a new pins only after you have moved 100 meters from your current location. A large Refresh Distance may increase performance, because the amount of data being transferred to your device will occur less frequently. A small Refresh Distance will find new pins faster if you are changing your location.
